Random punture

Hi

I wonder if you can help.
My bike has been stored in the shed for a number of months to find a punchure and quite a bad one so that it goes down in minutes.

Tyre has been checked, no damageetc but I did find what is shown in the attached.

Could this have caused it?

sounds like the ancient inner tube nighmare - go tubeless and stay retro .

One thing that happens to me sometimes is: the valve de-laminates from the rubber at the valve seat. The tube itself is intact but the inner tube is loosing lots of air at the valve connection. It's quite annoying since this kind of failure cannot be patched.
