Does anyone remember the Raleigh Supersport 12 from the mid 80's? And does it come up for sale often?

I've seen the entry in the raleigh catalogue that's online but not seen one any where else yet.

My brother had one as a youth which got passed on to me but then got sold in the early 90's.

Wouldn't mind getting hold of one if they go cheap enough

Raleigh Super Sport

Hi

I found this thread in Google as I was looking for information about a Raleigh Super Sport I saw while I was idly browsing ebay.

I'd be interested myself except I've just bought a Carlton for similar reasons you described: I used to have a Carlton when I was young and didn't realise what a gem it was.

Anyway, here's the Super Sport. I hope it's what you're looking for.

It seems I can't post urls because I need 5 posts so add http and : and // to make the following into a url

Hi, and welcome to the forum

Thank you very much for posting that.

Sadly, that one is pink! (oh dear - the 80's, lol), the one he had was blue and silver IIRC. That one also looks a bit big, but he doesn't list the size that I could see.

I'll let my brother know though, and I'll keep my eye out still.

Again, thanks for that :)

A man who is secure in his sexuality doesn't care what colour his bike is. :)

Anyway, it'll give you an idea of prices.

LOL, I could get him a dodgy coloured shell suit aswell for the full retro experience :)

I'll keep a watch on it - be interesting to see the level of interest, although these wern't 531 frames so maybe won't be too much.

Cheers

Rich

I've spent a long time trying to find out what my bike is and have just found out it is the exact bike you desire. And it's not pink!

Cool, do you have any pics and how long have you had it?

I don't know if you've found it in the catalogue that's online somewhere, I'll find the link if you need it, it shows all the original specs as well.

If you think of selling it let me know as I may be interested.

Yes I do have some pictures. I'll see if I can work out how to attach a photo and yes I have the bit from the original Raleigh catalogue.

Turns out I can't leave a URL link or attach my photo as it's too big.

If you want to see pictures google search Bike Forums and search 1973 Raleigh Racer.

I put a thread up a couple days ago called
1973 Raleigh Racer (NH3) But What's The Model?

Hope this is a help

I've had a look at the pics and it does indeed look like the supersport, as in this link here http://www.bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalo ... l83_13.jpg

When I showed my brother the link above, he thought his had more of the blue and not so much silver on the paintwork, I wonder if he had a later model as I reckon he had it in about 85, 86 or 87, but not been able to find reference to one later than 83.

I think this one was aimed at the younger generation, ours was much used until the point we both started driving.

I can be fairly confident in saying that yours is 83, not 73.

Do you know what size yours is? The catalogue shows only three sizes were made.

Thanks for sharing and if you do put it up for sale let me know, although I really don't know what kind of value these hold.

It's definitely the 83 model. As for size I'm sure it's the biggest. I'm 6ft 3 and it's perfect.

I too am not sure of its value. I wasn't particularly looking to sell unless a decent offer is made. Considering it has new tyres and has been serviced. It's all in good nick.

Cheers.
