Freshly restored Raleigh Record Sprint - 60cm (maybe 58cm I need to check!)

This bike has cleaned up really well. Sure theres a few blemishes here and there but it looks great and quite the talking point amongst (young) middle aged men :)

All original apart from the saddle which is the same as the original and recovered in faux suede as per the original, the tyres which have been replaced for Michelin Classics, tape, cables and chain. I do still need to test ride it though and I'll have to see how the new chain mates with the old freewheel.

Any questions please ask.

Looking for offers around £220 + £20 postage (includes frame fit pump, excludes pedals)

Re:

Thats in really nice condition. I've had a few of these and two currently reside in my garage. One of them is as new out of the box.
However I'm intrigued by this one. As far as I am aware the gold caliper versions also came with gold chainrings, brake levers and hubs. Am I wrong?
Lovely lightweight Clubmans riding bike though . All you really need as it will also tour/commute with good mudguard clearance.

The RRS with all Gold chain rings (actually a Thun Gamma Chain set) and gold maillard hubs was the 1983 variant.

The 1984 variant lost the gold hubs

After 1985 they lost the gold Thun chain set

Lovely, lovely bike Tel but alas way too big for me.
Please find me one in 19 or 21 at a push, something for the vertically challenged ;)

21" is the smallest frame this bike came in....

They also appear to be rarer than rocking horse manure....

Think anyone that owned one had it purchased by parents that didn't want them growing out of it owing to the initial price :D

Re:

Hi all
My 23" project is nearing completion however my 13yr old son loves the bike so much that he wanted one. Found an absolute beauty on eBay that I bought it for him. The 21" in the picture is completely original. Dated October 1985 everything is spot on. Shimano 105 golden arrows draillieurs, selle royal saddle, original gold chain that has been checked and has minimal wear. It's a classic. My son says that the Record Sprint is far better than his modern day Raleigh Team Sprint even though the RRS is 27 years older than his bike. Who ever said that modern bike are better, this RRS proves what a great build and bike it was !!!!

Anyway you can post a picture of the headtube badge and the silver sticker under the FD? I live in the US I was born in 1982 in Lakenheath England and would like a Nottingham made bike around the same time. And this is a beautiful bike...
