Raleigh Record Sprint (year?)

Here's my RRS - not sure of the year.

I purchased 2nd hand from LBS around the mid to late 90s. Rode to work for 1 summer, then largely a garage ornament. Just getting back into a bit of cycling to maintain fitness - tyres had gone brittle (hence the red, couldn't find yellow to go with the gold, straight black on the black rims might have looked better though). Have a sprung seat post and I've just slotted the 7 speed on the rear, otherwise all original (and old parts stored).

Any ideas on the the year (I'm guessing early 80s)

The frame number will date it

The first number (after 2 letters) will be the last digit in the year

My guess? 1983!
Spot on.

Looks spot on - but I'm not really going for the "concours" approach - would like to keep it all looking as original as possible though - but it's still a bike for riding. (Used to own a 1966 MGB even at 25+ years old it was being used for an 80 mile daily round trip in the winter).

DIY anodising and staining looks interesting though - I'm tempted by the idea of a triple chainset, but don't want to lose the gold.

I've got the original spec of this bike somewhere, I'll dig it out and post it later :)
