Raleigh Ozark - Stroud

Re:

Kellogs Cornflakes spoke reflector - the memories come flooding back. For reasons known only to my teenage self, I think there is still a small rice krispies sticker on my Orange...

Re:

The plastic Exage cantis and rear U-brake (urgh) take me straight back to my Mirage :)

Hopefully it's the picture but it does look like the top tube slopes down and the forks have a bit more rake that they started off with...

Needs thumbies back on it too ;)

Definitely a classic, but probably a pig to actually ride.

It's actually quite rare this one as there was a split halfway through 1989 in the range. It started off with the Chinook and Ozark, with the topend being Appalachian and Avanti. Hlafway through 1989 the range was changed and the Chinook and Ozark were replaced with the Cajun and Thunderroad with the Appalachian and Avanti continuing on.
Chinook was Exage Trail and Ozark was Mountain LX (which should have alloy brakes) and they both had U-brakes. Cajun was not much more than a repaint of the Chinook, while the thunderoad swapped the Mountain LX for Suntour XCD6000 (probably due to Raleigh team being Suntour equipped).
These actually ride really nicely, I rode my '89 531 team rep for the first time this year today and it was a lot nicer than my Muddyfox Sorcerer Mega.

Carl.
