Any idea what this is? May be interesting at the price if only for parts.

18 speed suggests that it's an early bike (if that's accurate).

Had a look at the photo a bit closer and have come to the conclusion it's only fit for a skip.

Oh I don't know. Offer him a fiver and convert it into a cheap wheel truing machine, whilst ebaying the rest off as BSO Spares.

I think its a raleigh mantis from around 1991.
Dont be fooled by the dx rear mech....the rest is 200gs I think....

i would have thought it would have been fitted with sachs hurret when new

Doesn't sound as though it's worth it so. I thought it might be a lightweight frame and have a Shimano groupset.
