Any frame number ?
Yep..sorry Peachy . The plan is to keep it all original as this is how it was built by the SBBU. The rustless spokes have rusted through so I will rebuild the wheels. The rims and brake blocks have no wear so I reckon that the 70 miles on the clock is correct. The rear wheel has never been moved to tighten the chain and removed for the first time by the seller.... stuck in a time warpSo what’s the plan? I presume it doesn’t involve a sturmey?
No frame number on the bottom bracket shell or steerer which is okay as it's a special build for one of the top management at Raleigh.Any frame number ?
Seriously? I’d just assumed the hub gear was some commuter fix. I thought all the SBBU frames were thoroughbred racing frames?Yep..sorry Peachy . This was built for the 5 speed SA with all the braze ons for stem shifters. Long Campagnolo dropouts for chain adjust and 116mm rear spacing. Wheelbase is longer wish more fork rake and massive clearance for mudguards and fatties.Seriously? I’d just assumed the hub gear was some commuter fix. I have now found a number on the top of the bottom bracket shell and I've seen this on other Dynaflite frames. Was hoping to find something on the steerer tube but that's come up blank. The Raleigh branded Weinmann 730 calipers can give me a date though... one is stamped 78 the other 80. The Sturmey Archer 5 speed rear hub is dated 1980. Looking at the 1980 New York Cycle Show Raleigh Dynaflite Machine my frame has the same fork crown and tangs, also they both don't have support gussets attached at the headstock and bottom bracket... these gussets appear on later SB numbered frames. With this information I would date my Machine to be built 1980.Original Sturmey Archer ribbed outer cable.
When I asked about the frame number, I was wondering if there were some initials like on team frames...
