Check under the bottom bracket for the serial number, it should say the year.

Unless they put it under the seat clamp instead. Seems to be no rhyme or reason which got which.

i think the early red criteriums had chrome forks and the later royal blue ones had colour coded forks.
so could it be a red on painted black or a sprint with chrome forks?

The forks don't look like they have the sloping crown that the Red Criterium had

I think it's fair to say this bike is a bit of a bitsa, albeit a rather nice one

Not all the Criteriums had the sloping forks, some had a flat fork crown.

The Criterium Triathlon I had in the early 80's had the flat fork crown whereas the one I purchased last year via eBay has the sloping fork crown.

I was under the impression that they only made the Standard Criterium in Red and the Criterium Triathlon in blue, I may be corrected though.

Either way, looks to have tidied up well.

The Red Criterium in that thread has a Tange Sloping Crown fork...
