Hi could anybody help I'm restoring a mk2 Raleigh chopper and trying to find rechroming service near me. I'm in Sheffield South Yorkshire. I would be grateful for any help.
Thanks
Paul

Don't bother mate, from a teenager who grew up in the 70's the worst bicycle ever designed and the worst bicycle ever manufactured..........................unless your a circus clown, then its the best bicycle ever designed and the best bicycle ever manufactured!!!!!

What a warm welcome that is!
The guy wants advice, wish I could give you what you need buddy but have no idea, someone a little more helpful will be along shortly to help though.

I had a purple one when I was a lad. Best bike ever. Backies, ramps, paper rounds, nothing beat it. Loved it. Can't help with the chroming but have a bump.

Regards Charlie Caroli.

Ok, its the best bike in the world, throw loads of money and time at it and you will be the best circus clown on the planet.

Is that more helpful?

My mate in 1972/3? had an orange MK1. I wanted one so much it hurt.

I had a crappy Raleigh small wheeled thing. To be fair mine was much faster, but somewhat less cool.

I still want one, oneday.

Re:

Got a lovely yellow one for Crimbo back in 73, I loved that bike. Stolen 2 years later. It was brilliant for wheelies, skids, carrying your mates, jumping small ramps etc. First thing I ever had nicked, still a bit cut up about it. Even saw the much older skinhead scum bag riding it 6 mths later.

Hope you get it restored OP. Thought about getting another resto one a few times but they are crazy money

They are classics, and a huge part of youth culture. I applaud anyone who gets hold of them and restores them.

Grifter man myself, though we had both in the stable. Had a Bomber later, but by that time I was on motorised bikes most of the time off road and road bikes for getting about.

Rechroming should be easy to get given your area. Lots of highly skilled people around there.
