Hi. Yeah, I've slowly been bolting it back together. Still got the wheels to service etc.
I'm changing jobs at the mo so unfortunately I'm loosing the cave that I use at lunch breaks. My last day is tomorrow. I've been doing tool hire for a company that sounds like 'New Son' and going to a big competitor! My supervisor tried telling me today I should break into a customers garage to take our plate compactor back. The lazy idiot wouldn't go and do it himself though! That's the sort of crap I've had to put up with for the last couple of years.
This build should be a quick one to finish off though but some of the mtbs may take longer again.
Nice. I have a super tuff burner mk2 that needs putting back together after some serious attention. I think my first I've was a very very small night burner, so I've got a bit of a love for them. Glad to see yours is moving on
I've just bought a Mk1 red Burner for restoration - not because I had one, but specifically because I couldn't have one 34 years ago! Looking forward to getting on with and following this thread too.
One thing you can help me with though; who did you frame powder coat and what was the RAL number?
Wings Powder Coating, Bridge Farm, Harberton, Totnes, TQ9 7PP, 01803 840044 (6 miles from me) - did mine. I don't know the colour code but if you quote my Burner and say it's the colour that came from America they should remember. It's a Father and son business and the lad is into mountain bikes so he knows what does and doesn't need doing. I will definitely be using them again in the future.
I was the same. I really wanted an Extra Burner but my parents either couldn't or wouldn't afford one.
I got a red and chrome catalogue special instead. Still loved it though.
So now I've got a MK2 Ultra Burner frameset which I intended to turn into an Extra Mk2 custom. It's only been sat in the loft for 4 years waiting for paint!
Maybe seeing this Mk1 come together will inspire me to get it sorted.
