Working at Halfords we have a policy that bikes that get left for more than 60 days without payment for the repair automatically become property of Halfords to cover the cost of the labour and of parts used on the bike, so in one such case an old Raleigh Amazon was left behind in our store by someone who refused to pay. I was offered it by my manager for the princely some of £10. The headset needs stripping down so does the bottom bracket and it has no chain. Otherwise it is just going in the skip. Is it worth it?

It probably has a BMX headset and stem, slightly bigger than the standard 1" threaded size. So find them.

BB will probably just want new bearings. So that won't be too dear.

Chain is £4 from ASDA, unless you can make one from leftover links (I assume you work in Halfords).

So, maybe. For a fiver. But probably not unless you can get the parts for free.
