Raleigh 531 SBDU 25 inch gentle fettle.

Re: Raleigh 531 help with I.D. Please

Original! I'd be in two minds to Team Rep Black and Red it though.
I did that with an older 531 Raleigh and it just didn't look right

what about the Raleigh USA stars and stripe? They look pretty cool and had the Raleigh panto on the seat stay just like yours?

I'll try and dig out a pic.

Re: Raleigh 531 help with I.D. Please

Yes I think that may have just gone out the window given the frame identification. Would be a bit disrespectful no?

Re: Raleigh 531 help with I.D. Please

Pedals is an easy one - have you shoes for both? If so, the choice is yours; if not, use what suits your shoes.

The bike looks great - have you cleaned it?

A wee bit but it's up to you!

See pics for the detail of the USA version

and the original Raleigh Stars and stripes looks at lot like this Concorde for finishing
can't find a pic yet. GARR!

It's not a difficult finish to replicate mostly masking and building up bands of colour
The stars are about the only tricky bit but you just buy stick ons - paint and peel off

Re: Raleigh 531 help with I.D. Please

Looks familiar?

I'd like to use those pedals if I could find the weird cleat thing that's missing.

Re: Raleigh 531 help with I.D. Please

This is the plate and screws that are missing from the other pedal. If anybody has one?

Re: Raleigh 531 SBDU help with Pedal parts please

A cream with dark Oxford/navy blue fade would look nice. Certainly more classy and not too disrespectful of the original colours.

Re: Raleigh 531 SBDU help with Pedal parts please

Nice idea but it stats as is or goes team ti red. I always wanted one hence buying this to build but it's growing on me as is. New sticker set, cables, aqua tape, white saddle.

Sorted pedals.........

Re: Raleigh 531 SBDU help with Pedal parts please

bars and stem are nothing special.and the pedals will need cleats for your shoes plus straps. I would not bother and get some looks or spd,s

Re: Raleigh 531 SBDU help with Pedal parts please

WK7000080 is not from Ilkeston. It was made in the Nottingham Lightweight Unit.
Ilkeston frames always had a serial number beginning SB... , unless they were built for a particular sponsored rider when they would be stamped with his initials, the year, and the frame number of that season (e.g. JZ 80 1 Joop Zoetemelk's bike on which he won the Tour in 1980)
