Radical Carbon Kevlar Prototype- Full resto

Re:

But it had already been "revealed"? :? On social media, which many of us on Retrobike also use. I thought it was another Radical as you'd mentioned grey accents but the photos had purple?
Aww crap....

It does look great

Re:

Yeh keep going I only caught a fleeting glimpse out of the corner of my eye( Thanks Pink Floyd), it's always the journey and not always the destination ( although from the corner of my eye the destination looked pretty dam good). Carry on fella :D

Re:

Pretty pleased with the result! Frame and forks waiting for graphics and lacquer.
Had to be inventive with the graphics as I had moved away from the production bikes single colour scheme to something a lot more busy.

This provided an opportunity though....to have the 'Radical' in individual letters on the rhomboids
The lettering had to be scaled to suit the opposing sides of the frame (small to large and vice versa)

I thought Purple would be suitably 90's and pop against the two base colours...

Re:

Well, here's the finished article. Very pleased that the chosen colours seem to compliment each other and the wacky paint scheme matches the unusual dimensions of the frame.
The frame has some very neat internal cable routing that also gave me a few scares during the final stages....the rear brake inner would not go into the entry port (turned out to be a little paint/polish slug in the way) and the rear derailleur cable would not exit the frame (this ended up being a patient, 2 person effort)

The bike had a bike jumble selection of parts cobbled together on it, the majority of which were bin fodder.
I wanted to put some leftfield componentry on this and it was the Sachs hub brakes that guided me on this.......what vintage Sachs groupsets of worth were out there?
I was pleased to find that they made some quite tasty stuff BITD so I plumped for the 'NEOS' groupset.

I also managed to score a NOS Iscaselle giro d'italia saddle as fitted to the production bikes.

Detail shots of the strange features and a spec sheet to follow....

Re:

Prototype Carbon Kevlar handlebars...rough and ready!

Slightly unconventional front brake cable routing.
