Racing team, 1971

I've been posting old mountain bike stuff in other forums, but thought I'd share some road bike history here. I've attached a local newspaper article about our San Diego Bicycle Club junior team from 1971. I'm the "Kevin" pictured and quoted. My bike in the photo was "Lygie" on the nameplate, and "Ligie" on the downtube -- go figure. Campi nuovo record equipment, Weinmann centerpull brakes, Weinmann woodfilled rims, mostly Clemente Elvizias or Vulcano tires to train and Clemente Criterium 250g silks to race. (The silks cost $10, which was about six hours labor as a bike mechanic at the time.) Cheers!

Interesting. Do any of the others still have any interest in the sport?

Three of us are still recreational riders. One had to stop cycling due to injury. One has gone totally nonathletic. Couple years after this pic was shot, the two women made the US National Team. I think both had national titles at some point.
