(Question) What length BB for a Fat Chance ... please

Bottom Bracket shell = 68mm
I'm proposing to install a M952 Crankset.
What length BB will I require?
Frame is a FC titanium.
Reaching out also for the above two parts ..

Whatever the 952 requires - the frame is basically irrelevant.

I bought a 93 FAT Ti with a 952 chainset. IIRC it had a 116mm XTR BB

M952 only came in a 112.5 and 116. Both likely will work but one will give a better chain line.

I always go for 112.5 on GT.

Installation time ...

The driveside 'fixed' cup flange nestles up to the frame BB shell nicely. Detailed R on the BB sticker.

The non-driveside 'loose' cup is bright silver in colour, and has two two types of tooling arrangement, Splines and peg grooves to the exterior ring.

This cup has a threaded length of about 22mm which is far greater than the depth of the threading inside the frame shell.

When installing the BB with both cups engaging together I have an exposed threads on the L cup of about 7mm.

Looks cack and looks wrong.

Whats occurring? Are the BB in both 68mm and 73mm versions?

Some frames have less depth to their threads than others.

My psyclone can’t accept a Royce BB as the cups are too long. Happens more often on niche frames.

Sounds like you have this issue too
