Question about shipping from USA to UK

I'm sure that some of you guys have purchased bikes from the US. Is there a good shipper to use? I just sold a $4800 bike to a guy just outside of London and the cheapest shipper is FedEx at $360. Does anyone have any other ideas?

The box, by the way, is 45"x30"x12" and is 35 lbs.

Thanks!

two boxes, one frame box (or bicycle box cut to fit) and a wheel box. both must be under 108" so you can ship usps priority mail. should cost approx., $160 for both depending on insurance and weight.

print online and you'll save a few bucks.

Just make sure you have full cleared funds from the seller before you ship!

Yep 2 boxes with USPS is much cheaper. Keep the boxes as small as possible. Length + heightX2 + widthX2 needs to be under 108".

Bear in mind you may get stung for

Import Duty @ 4%
VAT @ 17.5%
Use of deferment account £10-£80
Customs paperwork fee £10-£80

I was getting ready to ship and got notification that the payment was canceled. Needless to say I'm a little upset about this. I've been getting jerked around about this transaction for over a week now, waiting for him to get clearance to send such a large amount ($4800) and then waiting for it to clear.

Thank you for all of your help, though!
