Just in the middle of throwing together an old bike and I'm just popping a front derailleur on now.

The question is.

Which front deralleur should I use top pull our bottom pull?

Most bolx out there use a pulley with a bottom pull, but I've just offered up my top pull which looks like it's going to work fine and looks a lot cleaner.

I have both but would like to know what you guys think?

Well I would go bottom pull. I’ve tried top pull before and it needs a bit more leverage to shift upwards than a bottom pull. Plus with bp it’s just a straight line down to the pulley rather than the cable jutting out toward the front mech on tp.

If it’s a gold coloured pulley it’ll look awesome

I go top pull on my bolx and it works a treat. I realise that sounds smutty but it’s true.

Go TP for less parts. I can't say i have noticed any problem changing rings with one with thumbies or bar ends.
