Question about mavic rims

Is/was the Mavic EX721 rim brake compatible?

It looks the same shape as the D521 and seems to have a braking surface although it's referred to as a disc rim in some places.

Probably the same extruded shape (possibly NOT the same alloy grade) but without the machined rim surface.
So it should work, but might be a bit grabby and look like crap after a weeks use.

Re:

The silver ones had machined rim brake surfaces. They stopped making them a few years ago though because silver rims are not "in" and rim brakes on MTBs are obsolete. As far as I know the black ones are exactly the same but without the machined surface. They are therefore sold as a disc rim.

Re:

I have used the black ones with rim brakes and they worked well. Rim lasted three years with 20-30 miles a day and a heavy braking hand.
