Quadra springs

Just bear in mind though that, unlike Rock Shox Judys, Quadras don't have a damping cartridge and rely on solely on the elastomers for any damping.

You can run a coil spring in one leg and an elastomer stack in the other for improved suspension action while retaining some of the damping.

Probably, just check the length will fit. Look in the service manual/cataloge in the archive or maybe on LTS's site. I forget where it is.

Technically you can run springs in a MAG21 and still have damping.
I believe 7" speedsprings would work in a mag21, though with modification and no specific damping.

So cannot see why somthing similar wouldn't fit in the early Quadra's

I think the Quadra21R used the JUDY Jax MCU setup ?
I think you're spring will need to be ~6" long.

I think the Friction ring if it has it is your damper ring in the Quadra's

Yes that's right. The 21R had a mixed stack of five or six short red (soft) and blue (hard) elastomers with the plastic connectors in each leg. The other Quadras had single long elastomers in each leg.

I don't think there was a friction ring in the 21R's when I had mine back in 1995 though...?

Thanks to everyone for the stack of information. My forks do indeed have one single long (blue) elastomer in each leg. They are on a Hoo Koo E Koo - '95 I think - which I rescued six years ago. It wasn't until last September when I joined Retrobike that I found out what make they were let alone the model.

You've really helped me, thanks again guys.
