That’s interesting - new about potential of Pace headtube to crack - but did not know about CK h’set’s worsening - any idea what the issue is ? - CK also make a special headset with extra long cups (I think for frames likely to take a beating) would those make it even worse.

Would like a Pace (had all the parts BITHD). but the frame durability has always put me off a bit.

Purple ano. , Green ano. , or original grey all very nice options …

Could just be very precise tolerances?

I'm no engineer but the square headtube with the round hole would put stresses front and back, where the material is thinnest. Guessing they crack at 3/9/12 o'clock?

Recently took a CK out of a Cannondale M700 and it was a bit more of an effort than I thought it would be. Lovely quality, and 30 odd years on it was still in great nick

If the headtube is a bit narrow and fragile like some older frames then there is a chance the headtube will give first.

I am actually wary about pressing headsets into any old Ti or Alloy frame, more so with CK.

@danson67 can likely explain as I know he can modify the CK slightly to help.

I’d never attempt to fit one personally as far too many cracked ones around from them.

I'm pretty sure the CK headset has been in my RC since it was first built, i think i'll let sleeping dogs lie
