650w was a 27" rim so guess it is an original bonty re-roll. 28 hole xt m730 hubs were about in the 89 groupset (so late 8:cool:. Pot rivited cable guides were the norm on the early bikes too.

That colour (note the correct spelling :D ) is awesome .

Could you give us an idea of shipping cost to the UK please?

BTW, I would have put it more directly in the sun but the way the paint glows really messes with a digi-cam and I have a few to choose from. It's just about uncapturable (is that a word?) with a camera.

The 28 spokers were a M730F and mine does not have the F.

I have mentioned to someone that I have no bloody idea how much shipping would be, nor do I know diddly about taxes (VAT?).
Someone mention a good carrier and I will get in contact with them, approximate a box size and weight, and try to get as exact as I can with the shipping.
I might be a shot of whisky worth off, but close enough is better than no idea eh ?

I guess I should have posted this earlier in the thread....but cranial fog and all that.....I have mentioned it to a few that have PM'd me.

There ARE spare parts that go with this bike.
The original Fisher CrMo stem (what with how tough it still is to find 1.250" headset stuff) in powder coated black. The rear XT brake in black. A full set of Aztec brake pads that are like new. A pair of (you guys may never have seen them before) polyurethane tubes in the clear/milky yellow colour (see! I can spell it like that too). A AKG rear brake bridge that makes the SE rear brake WAYYYYYY too touchy so is not on the bike. A very trick AKG billet handlebar clamp for a 'Mini-Mag flashlight (very tre cool). A few Regina hollow pin chains and more random stuff of the likes.
I just went on a dig for the original receipt and have yet to find it, but did put hands on the spares but did not dig all thru them, there is probably quite a few more things in that box of oldies but.....oldies.

What sinnerman (Carl) said :)

If I didn't already have my NOS frame and fork set I would be all over this. A genuine bargain imo

I would be interested to know what the shipping price would be to the UK.

You could always sell me your NOS frame and forks ;)

I guess I'll be keeping it.

No, I do not want to sell individual parts like people kept asking.
No, I still do not know how much it would have cost to ship it since I no one told me who would be a good carrier (DHL ?!? UPS !?! something proprietary UK ? dunno).

I listed it here as I know from personal experience UK lads tend to care for things and just bloody respect them in a manner that the youth of the US does not.
There is no longer any honor, respect, dignity, or class in the younger generations over here (oh but they will scream that they are entitled to get their way about the whole mess (conundrum or irony, you decide)).
So there was never any chance this bike would be sold stateside unless to a collector or possibly a shop as a display piece.

It has always meant too much to me to see it get thrashed and trashed.
You should be able to tell by the way I've taken care of it for almost 30 years.
I'd rather see it decay into dust than see it demolished by poor care and lack of respect.

So.....there ya have it.
Sale removed.

Re:

That's a real shame but completely understand. If I didn't have so many projects on the go I would have definitely sending a few PMs.

It does take time to sell stuff on here sometimes. It only takes one person to come up trumps and from past experience it's taken a few months...but somebody always comes up trumps...

Re:

Fed ex it to my mate in Detroit and he'll sort getting it to the UK...

Shame about the aggro on this thread, it's a nice rig and I know Sinnerman or Giom would do it the justice it deserves.... My folks are in So Cal in 10 Wks and I could ask them to clear some baggage space if that's a viable option....

Re:

Both of those options are good options I reckon.

Could make it viable for somebody...

Re:

What has the -F for to do with anything on the hb-m730?
All it designated oddly was Front as for as I know,as it was always lumped with the FH-M730 rears.

In the 1989 (~academic 88/89 year) model year as hb-m730-f for all the front hubs 28/32/36 (buff or black)
They never put the -f on the hub itself, only what you see on your hub.
So it may well be an off the shelf (well special order as 28 hole was uncommon) but doubt it was specially made just for you or the rim was specially made for you.
It was a product they made at the time.
There may even be the date stamp on it.
Of course if it was bought early 1988 then it would not be part of the gropuset (still called HB-M730-F though)
It the switch to the deore XTII from DeoreXT. You have 6speed so may well have a bit of both (as tge rewar mech would say being a white XT not gold) as both where still offered alongside each other in 89 model year.

Nice bike, Fluorescent Yellow would be its full name I assume, nice to see Mr Funk enjoying seeing it again too. It's kept well.
I think I have one of them shifter heads in a bag NOS still somewhere

Edit sorry bought '87 got confused with all the different years banded about.
Get that receipt found :). Shut them all up.

I'm quite sure the Suntour SE did not come till the 1989 model year.

As you have had the bike 30 odd years, and the fact you have kept it in such great condition, I don't think deep down you really want to sell it.

There are collectors in the states that may give it the home you would like it to have, maybe even Daryl himself? but what would you replace it with?

How about starting a thread about the bike in readers MTB section? good pictures, history of the bike etc, you must have some great story's of adventures you have had with the bike?

As much as I, along with others would love to add it to our collections, I think you should keep it
