Protecting finish on post & bars

My new to me Clockwork now has expensive Thomson handlebars fitted and a new Thomson post will be ordered in the next week or so. How do I best protect them from cosmetic wear when fitting rear mudguard (defender with post clamp) and lights using the rubber straps?

The bike will be used almost daily so lights and guard are essential.

The Thomson stuff is expensive and I want to do my best to prevent rub to the finish so should I wrap with electrical tape or a length of inner tube or something else?

I run all the stuff you say on my all-year MTB as I mainly ride in darkenss in winter. Thomson bits have a really good finish that is durable and I simply haven't got any scratching after 5 years.

Helicopter tape?

I used electricians tape for the handlebar mounted light and the rear mud guard is clamped to the frame below the seat post clamp. I fashioned a mount for the rear light on the back of my saddle so the seat post is free of any additional clamps.
