At last, after more than 3 years since getting MY Funk back (will go into detail later) and collecting parts for it I am finally really starting the project.

Its going to have Campag, mainly Centaur, as I had it when I owned and raced it in 1990 to 1992. I had the first Rock Shox on it back then, and I will be getting MY actual ones back very soon, but have sourced some Funk suspension forks to put on this time. Some parts will be different to my original build but they will all be period, I think.

So far I have unpacked it, removed all extra stickers, had the bottom bracket shell re-faced both sides, threads checked/cleaned through with a tap and a new rivnut fitted for the front mech cable clamp. This work was done by Velocity Cycles in Cosham Portsmouth today. Last week I had them rebuild my rear wheel with a NOS Centaur hub as the hub on the wheel had two cracks in it. Very pleased with the work.

Thats enough writting for now, I will put more info about the history of the frame and me later, with some old racing photos!

Heres some pics so far.

So badly wish i could get my Funk back....on my most wanted list when i get the funds together!!

This one looks very sweet

Riveted top tube cable stops. Non relieved head tube. Screw in rear der stops. BB hole for drip valve. No front der cable stop. Sculpted seat tube top:1989/90?
What valve thingy have you put in the BB?
(And goes without say but the Funk sus fork: bad mojo)

That's not a drain in the bb, its the rivnut, it needed replacing as the original one had been very badly removed to enable a cartridge type bb to be fitted and a bastardised front mech system used. This is the standard set up from manufacture, that is used to secure the front mech cable. The mech has to have a cable stop/guide on it which the cable outer stops at then the exposed inner cable runs straight down to the bolt and rivnut to be secured ensuring there is tension in the cable. I am hoping I have an old photo I can stick on here to show it.

As for the forks, well I am aware that they were found not to be very good or strong but for now I think it will be more suiting to fit them and I won't be using the bike much anyway, may put my original RS1s on, which seemed ok 20 odd years ago but probably no better than the Funk ones!

Here are a few pics from 1990 at my first race on it, I will explain all the damage to the rear mech etc another time!

Good pictures. Thanks for sharing. Hope the build will be up dated?

Love the photos.

I thought the Funk frame had a roller on the back of the bb for the cable to loop round.

Do you know why Funk went bankrupt? I wouldn't ride the funk forks off a kerb!
