Project: Shed(s)

Tootyred is spot on with his advice. The solution is to reduce the amount of stuff, not better ways to keep it. I once read "if organising was the solution, wouldn't we be done by now?".

I'm down to two bikes and two boxes of parts. Now it's a joy to work on my bikes as I know what I have, where everything is, my bikes are always in top condition...

The crave to buy, build, rebuild, is always there, so I've found two solutions to avoid temptation:
-my kids are still growing so they need a new bike every two years. Plenty of entertainment -flip bikes. Buy bikes only if I think I can make a profit, and use the money only for bike related purchases.

I think he's doing great....and has offered up so e super karma to boot.....

Shame on all you doubters and naysayers!..

Go on......post a picture and prove them all wrong.....

Honestly, a current picture will show no noticeable progress, in fact it might make things look worse! I'm on the lookout on marketplace for one of those plastic garden stores you get for wheelie bins. The plan is to get everything that needs to be sold into said box so that the shed organisation can begin, rather than needing to wait for everything to be sold before progress is made

You'll get there...it kinda gets messier before it gets better with all the shuffling about of boxes and sorting this that and tat! but once you get over the hump and the space starts to appear you'll feel great 👍
I can relate to this!
I really tidied up the other week, then had a blitz listing things for sale, now I've got boxes everywhere to package things in and can't move!
Plus it's too bloody hot to spend time in a workshop 🥵

My old maths teacher was German ...his fav saying was...Zats zee vay zee kookie krumbles...

Keep at it.....space will appear..like another galaxy after a black hole...😆
I try to aim to have a cupboard empty....always....I call it flux space....stuff comes in and it then it goes..no more cramming every little space with useful "stuff"

Systemized boxing is a great thing...ones that all stack properly and all the same size.....so when a box comes out there's space exactly for a box to go back in...
A little shifty wander round the back of supermarkets and you'll find tough plastic crates that stack..I seem to have about 25 of em....they followed me home !!🤨.funnily enough one box takes a whole bike bar frame fork and wheels! Great system!

They say you can't make an omelette without first cracking an egg...keep at it👍
I mentioned systemized boxing back up there..
Supermarket trays are good but there's also another type of box which is even better...check out big dug on eBay 👍....you could then design your storage workshop around standardized box sizes.... efficient space usage to the max!

B&M bargains is pretty good for a fairly decent range of cheap storage boxes. I've made a start on organising my workspace too recently. Hanging the bikes from the ceiling has made a big change to the space, but there is still a lot of work to do to make it ergonomic.
