Proflex 756 World Cup design

DogBowLocks

Retro Newbie
I have had this Proflex 756 World Cup design since I purchased it in May 1996. During this time I replaced the yellow elastomers that served as suspension units with Noleen coil and spring front and rear and also upgraded the forks to Girvin Pro carbon fibre.

I have now got to that time of life where I need a bit of assistance to get up the hills so am going electric. To help fund this purchase I will need to sell my long standing bike but have no idea of the value, if there is a market for buying it and where to advertise it.

I would welcome any advice that anybody is willing to share.

Re: Profolex 756 World Cup design

My god it’s got mud on it. You didn’t ride it there did you?

But seriously they are very cool, very competent bikes. The upgrades you have done are very in keeping and sensible. Now to your question...and hold on to your hat. Pro-flex are greatly under-recognised, in my view. They were the first generation of really capable FS lightweights. But very cheap to buy these days, and I don’t thing it should be the case.

I have an 856 frame and forks and they have sat around on here in the for sale for ages and ages. Pro-Flex occasionally have a spurt of interest - watch this one and see what happens...it’s good that the guy will post it since that will open up interest...

Re:

Yes indeed that is real mud. The bike has served me well but have been tempted by the power of electricity after seeing all these old boys cruising past me up hill!!

I had spotted that Proflex on Ebay and like you suggested I will watch it to see what happens to it.

Ah ha! Marc twotone I challenge your implication, Sir/Madam! (Although I know you are referring to leccy up, muscle on the flats...)

The 856 I rode was 24lbs all up. The suspension design digs the rear wheel in under low cog load. It went uphill like a rabbit being chased by a stoat. I remember the last outing on it...early 2000s...went east up Southease hill - terrible grassy drag...and overtook three people on latest (then) FS Specialised. Got to the top and stopped to take in the view, and one of them puffed up to me, saw the bike and said with distain ‘oh...I thought you were on some special...’. Nope...a lot older than yours and A LOT FASTER....

always a great pleasure to ride it

Re:

These frames may be under valued but the carbon Noleen's usually go for £200 to £300 depending on condition . Hope that helps with the valuing

Thanks for the various comments.

I would be looking to sell it as a complete bike. Don't think I could bring myself to break it up and sell in bits somehow.

It seems my Cube replacement is on track for mid-May delivery so now need to officially put it up for sale. Based on upgraded suspension and the carbon forks would anybody be interested in buying it complete at £350?
