PRO FRO

That's no Pro-FRO, it is a factory repaired FRO. Pro FROs have machined out dropouts. I am not aware of any factory made Yeti that came with that seat collar, but that was their preferred method for fixing the cracks that too often formed at the collar. I sold a one-inch that had been fit with an identical collar. The work was done in Durango, BTW. Similarly the triangle gusset at the chainstay is a factory add-on as it wouldn't have come on the FRO.

Check my FRO on Ebay right now to see what it would look like without these two fixes.

BP - educate me please. This one has the fluted seattube, which according to Herting was only available with the Tange tubing used for the Pro FROS. Would they have replaced the whole seattube in Durango?

AB: I don't see the flutes that you are talking about. Did CH suggest that some Pro FRO's were built with Tange Ultimate Prestige? (like the Hots). That is the only fluted Tange tubeset of the time I am aware of.

Fluted might not be the right word

Umm... okay layman's terms, it gets bigger about 3 inches down. There's a term for it that escapes me. Butted? I dont know.

But my 91 FRO... which showed no signs of repair, had a simple same-size seattube. My Pro FRO has a [butted?] one, and Herting says its made of Tange, not 4130.

It is a reinforcing collar and part of the Yeti fix for the problem of cracking seat tubes.

I have been fooling around with my servers or else I would be able to post better pics.

The tell on this bike are the rear dropouts. I don't think any Pro FRO came with FRO dropouts. Once the dropouts have identified the bike it follows that the seat collar, and likely the chainstay gusset are after market repairs.

I wonder if in 1991 there were some transition Pro FROs that used FRO dropouts. The one I pictures has serial number 2471 and was likely from 1992.
