Offering Presto lightweight step-through frame
Very nice and very rare lightweight step-through frame from Presto of Amsterdam. If you're in the market for a fine mixte kind of frame and you're looking for something really special, this could be your frame.
The frame is built using full Reynolds 531 butted tubing. The blades of the Presto typical fork and the stays have open ends and are brazed to Campagnolo 1010 ends. I've identified the lugs as Nervex, but I am not entirely sure and if anyone has other suggestions, please let me know. The builder added a 3rd pair of stays for extra reinforcement.
Builder: Jan Legrand
Jan Legrand was the 1st builder for Presto. From the early 70s on Legrand was head mechanic and the frame builder for the TI Raleigh and Panasonic Raleigh teams. Later he contributed to the development of the Panasonic PR6000 professional bike.
Build it with a selection of fine French parts or Campagnolo. Personally I would have opted of white or aluminum fenders with white/tan tires, but this is all up to the next owner. The frame has already a nice Stronglight headset installed. Huret shifters and a Simplex downtube cable guide are bolted on.
Features:
- Reynolds 531 butted tubing for frame and fork
- Campagnolo 1010 ends and drop outs
- Nervex lugs
- Presto fork in chrome
- enamelled cut outs
- Amsterdam coat of arms inspired graphics
- Seattube 60cm c-t
- Serialnumber P1176
Condition:
Given the age (almost 40yrs) quite good. You will find some chips, scratches or other imperfections because of age in paint. The paint is at some spots a bit dry. Miniscule cracks do show up there. I recommend a wax treatment before start building. The chrome is very good. Structurally the frame is 100% sound. View the prics to form your own opinion. There are many.
Comes with:
- Stronglight headset
- Huret shifters
- Simplex downtube cable guide
- seatpost binder bolt
- a pair fenders in white (one mildly damaged)
