Pre Mnt Bike era tripple front mechs...What Did You Use?

I'm looking into tripple front mechs for my Robert's.
Before mountain bike groupsets took over mid 80's, what was the quality like for tourers using a tripple chainset?

I'm guessing the industry standard was 28.6 clamp diameter, which is fine for my frame.

Any suggestions?

Huret, Suntour and Shimano all did nice front mechs.

Just bought an Ultegra tripple front. Quite rare. I had a full Ultegra groupo on my Midas from Mike Dixon. That was a flawless bike!
