It really is not. My own cut year is 1998. But I would love to see the love for old mountain bikes to gather around one site, than to spread to different forums. The hype of vintage mountain bikes has declined after corona years, and will continue to do so, as we are getting older. It would be wonderful (to me) if younger generations would find their place at here (somewhere else than the general 98+ subforum) when they start to build their teen dreams of say 98...08 bikes in the coming years. Otherwise, I think this forum will practically die in about ten years. Would be shame.
I was 16 in the year 2000. So I certainly spent many years riding the bikes of the era you are talking about. I still wouldn’t class these as retro. Mid skool I believe is the term bmx guys use.
Covid certainly got new people involved in the hobby but that was likely due to more spare time and boredom. The hobby is now back to pre covid. Many of the groups I’m part of are growing daily.
