I'm building a practical steel bike nothing special just practical starting with this 1988 Norco Monterey sl

Looks like a soup can. Is that the one with parts from Swissguy in Berlin?
I'm sure these guys would like to know that it's a lugged construction triple butted ishtawa frame. I love that Rhodes sticker, was a good shop

This works for me. Something I'm going to do as well, except its cold, wet, miserable and my workshop is full of bits of house. Soon though.

Time to cut spokes can only get 281mmand 286mm got the 286mm I'll just thread them a little more.

Huh, I had an earlier version of the Monterey SL and am surprised they would spec Ishiwata 3xbutted for a bike at that level of the price range. I'd expect that in a Nishiki or a Fiori.

Funny thing that you mentioned those two brands, they were both associated with Norco, Fiori was actually a Norco sub brand to trick us into thinking they were Italian, not Canadian. I have a bike designed by Norco, made by Nishiki. I was surprised by ishtawa too, but mainly because I usually see Tange stickers on their products.
