Posting frames abroad.

I'm trying to find a price to post a frame abroad.
Looking at the Royal Mail price finder http://www.royalmail.com/price-finder it says for a 5kg 'packet' is around £50 however it doesn't define 'packet' would this cover a bike frame size box?
Other courier companies seem to be over £100 though?!
Any ideas?

It depends on where you want to send it to and whether or not you want it to be fully insured.

The last frame I sent abroad was a Cannondale Raven (plus forks and a few bits)... I think it cost me about £35 using www.parcel2go.com

I recently used these guys to send a frame to germany.

Depending on where you send the weight is often secondary to the size / volumetric weight. Its because of the room it will take up on the plane. The key is getting / making the box as small as you can.

Cost me £35 IIRC, fully insured (I paid extra for that). The service was actually UPS and it arrived about 3 days after sending.

It may depend where it is going, I spent quite a while making the measurements of the box smaller.

Remember that if the weight of a box is 5kg it is irrelevant if your box has a volumetric weight of 35kg!

I think there may be various "zones" within the eu as well. If you can get the price down those guys were good (for me!)

I dont know your sizes (or where its going) but I managed to get a frame and forks into a box of this size (more or less),

105 cm long, 25cm wide and 60 cm tall,

they just quoted £25 plus vat with ups to ger. Make sure you scroll to the bottom of the page as the quotes at the top were in the 70's range!
