I'm hoping someone from Canada can advise me the best service to use to ship a frame from BC to the UK.

The guy I am dealing with has got quotes from 'Bikeflights' (which is Fedex I'm told) and their postage calulator for a 10lb package was almost $500 Canadian!

Canada Post varies between $125 and $1000 depending on size and weight.

Has anyone got any good suggestions please? It won't be a complete bike being shipped - just frame only.

Thanks

i got a kona hot frame & fork shipped over last year with canada post and it cost me an eyewatering $370 canadian dollars. it was tracked and it also took 6 weeks to arrive. it was worth the wait (for me) as i knew it was my only chance to own the frame i wanted

Crap! I take it that wasn't the lovely red/yellow fade Hot (noticed you said you managed to get that one over without huge shipping and customs charges)?

I try to tell everyone that the rates from here are insane. Shame, because I have a shedload of stuff I could sell, but the shipping kills it unless it's very small.

I'm trying to get my hands on a nice Brodie frame and most of them seem to be in Canada :(

Is it any cheaper from the US? If yes, then get a PO BOX redirecting service to take delivery and then post on, you'll still be clobbered for tax, etc. In the old days it was cheaper to fly over with a hard case and bring stuff back usually avoiding customs charges etc. Oh how i miss £200 return flights to the US

even at 300 quid for a flight you could have a weekend in the states, bring back a suitcase load of bike.

Thanks for the (disappointing) info guys. Not sure it's going to be worth bringing this particular Brodie over to the UK with those costs :(

nope that one came in 2 boxes from the US and cost me $110usd

the hot with the flames paint job was the beast in question, very expensive but id won the auction so i had to pay the price i guess

I bought a lot of parts and frames in Canada and I'm based in Germany. Canada post is the cheapest option, I payed around $120-$150 for surface shipping various frames. Package should be as small as possible, that increases the cost more than the weight. There shouldn't be such a big difference between Germany and UK in the shipping rates.
