Pointless ramble having been to tour of Britain today

I stood in Whitehall today watching the individual time trial on the tour.......it has recalibrated my take on the concept of fitness. Goodness knows how many hours of training it takes to sculpt the human body into what I saw but it has left a real impression on me!.......I'm traveling home with a renewed sense of motivation........

Impressive finish by Cavendish on the Westminster Criterium today.
From 5th place to first in a blink. Legend in the making.

Just seen it too, didn't think there's anyway he could make it - he's given up with much smaller gaps to the front before - an epic finish - Renshaw didn't look overly happy though!

Well I truly sympathise with Renshaw being arguably the worlds best lead out man, and potentially a sprinter to rival Cav', plus not being selected etc
But this stage was free for the taking and Cav' showed them how its done.

I have to say that from the good people at ITV4 showing the TDF, the Vuelta and the Tour Of Britain all summer I am astonished at the average speeds these guys manage.

Not to mention the speed on big descents on wheels the width of your thumb.

They are pretty good climbers as well. I was explaining the way the gradients work in terms of percentage to a guy I work with for a TDF stage and he wasn't impressed. Until I compared it to a local road the same gradient and the fact they do it for 20+km.

He was shocked.
