I have a Benotto in similar shape, tried saving the paint, but too much rust, so more sanding coming up.

Either way it’s irrelevant. I have a carbon minimal fork to put on it.

I haven't started on the Benotto, although it is a good one, a Modelo 3000. However, the stem is so stuck in the fork that I'm going to have to use either explosives or acid to reduce the stuck bit. And I've been sandbagging on this project, waiting for inspiration.....

Frustrating but rewarding when you do finally unstick it

Had a look at the forks. They have Campagnolo dropouts. Tempted to use them. I’m thinking of building the bike up as is to see if I like it.

Im very lucky to also have a rourke 853 and a concorde. I don’t want to cut the carbon forks to then find out I’m not happy with it.

Also thinking of going Campagnolo for the groupset.
