Retro Newbie
Good evening,
New to retro and this forum.
I’ve had a Pinarello sitting around for a few years and am about to give it a bit of TLC. I’ve done a bit of research but would appreciate you opinions on year and model. I’ll chuck out my guess as a Record ‘84/85.
1. Bridge behind bottom bracket on chain stays: not Montello.
2. No SLX ridges: not Montello
3. Chrome only on one chain stay: older model
4. Down tube decal (Olympic 1984): between ‘84-87)
5. Head tube badge: Early 80s
6. Campagnolo dropouts on frame and fork: Early 80s
7. External brake cable: not montello
8. SN C184: I believe these changed over ‘85 to LL
9. Assumed original components (rear mech, shifters, headset, BB (haven’t removed yet): appear, from a 1985 campy catalogue to be super record.
10. Rear mech PAT 82: I believe these were stamped with the year of manufacture? Therefore 82 onwards.
11. Metallic red over fully chromed frame. Limits the number of models available in the 85 Pinarello catalogue to the Record, if taken alongside the group set.
I’ve attached some pics of the points I’ve made above.
Let me know where I’ve gone wrong or might be on the right track. Any help much appreciated. Any other tells to look for?
Cheers,
J
