Hi, can anyone tell me if thread pattern for campag and shimano are
compatible with each other or would threads on 2002 pinarello bottom
bracket be specific to one brand or the other? :?

Italian bikes tend to have Italian threads on the bottom bracket. The make of the bottom bracket per se doesn't matter. What's important is whether it's got matching English or Italian threads for the particular frame. I would have thought a 2002 Pinarello has Italian threads, but then again they may have used English threads. Sorry, not much help I guess.

You mean the threads on the BB shell? In a pinarello they're italian, so as long as you have an italian threaded BB, then it will fit. Doesn't matter what make it is.

wot the man said. in other words, you can stick a Campag or a Shimano bottom bracket in it as long as it has the right threads, which are apparently Italian.

thanks for that, i see what you mean, i think i suffered a bit brain freeze
when i thought up that question

One other thing that you might need to think about. If you're using cranks that need a bottom bracket spindle with a square taper fit, then Campag and Shimano use a slightly different taper. Campag uses an ISO taper while Shimano is JIS. Theyre not really interchangeable as they give different positions of the crank arm and chain wheel on the spindle. There are third party bottom bracket/spindle sets that offer either ISO or JIS taper, with an Italian thread.

As long as you use all from the same manufacturer, then it will be fine.
