Or get and Explosif as has been suggested already.

Oh and decide on the correct size (I can talk, I fluctuate between 21"/19" frames quite happliy)

Lots to think about. First the lava dome had been up for sale not because i don't like it but because the cash would be handy. Selling both and buying high end sounds like a good idea in theory but i'd rather do something with what i have. As for size i'm 5'10 with a 30 inch inside leg so really i should be on an 18 but i really like a smaller frame under me. I've had a scoot on the aa and it is big but its not too big. Its not going to be for serious riding anyway. Grrr what to do!

I hope this isn't getting a bit sad, but the geometry on the two bikes is quite different, so it might (?) help to spell out how the AA will differ.

1. obviously the three inch longer seat tube doesn't make much difference, but
2. the top tube is two whole inches longer, and that's a lot
3. the head tube is 4cm longer, so the bars are going to feel quite a bit higher
4. the head angle is a whole 1.7deg steeper (for any given fork), which again is quite a lot and the steering should feel quite a bit sharper.
[i.e., the AA head angle is what Joe Murray designed and the Lava Dome is 1.7 slacker - but maybe you prefer it 1.7 slacker than Joe Murray designed]

Obviously if you like the Lava Dome absolutely fine, then all those changes are going to be for the worse. But if you don't mind going in these directions, it's a question of whether the differences go too far.

i thought it felt a bit longer. didnt realise it was that much longer though.

i think the plan is as follows...

build the aa into a singlespeed hack. strip and sell non original stuff off the lavadome but keep the frame and wheels for possible future use.

if i get on with the aa then great, i've got myself a cheap cool hack. if i dont then someone else can have a cheap, cool hack
