Rear classic Phil Wood California Highway Patrol (CHP) pedals for road touring bike
There specially ordered for a bike build many years ago, did some light riding and send more then the 25 years in the dry attic covered with dust. Ive cleaned the dust, can be easily polished - but will leave that for the new owner
Discription :
These bizarre looking pedals came out in 1975. They were named the California Highway Patrol pedals, to comply with the new (and absurd) California state law requiring a large reflector to be integral to pedal design. They were the first pedal to be certified under that policy. They're known to be extremely comfortable long distance pedals, and will definitely draw some questions of curiosity and admiration from fellow riders.

This very good set comes with period correct chrome toe clips and leather toe straps. Perfect for your L'Eroica bike!

Condition

Lightly ridden condition. Some marks on the pedals. The bearings are smooth, no grit or dryness. Cages/bodies look good, and have quite minimal surface-level marks. Worthy of any show bike.

Details

Reviews :
They were ugly, but they sure were comfortable at 100+ miles in a warm California sun. Rode my pair of Phils for years in California (1977), Turkey (1978-80), all around Montana (1980-83), Alabama (1984), and back to Turkey (Ankara), when I retired them in favor of a pair of Weyless quill pedals (that still have many miles left). I lost both Phil Wood pedals during the move back to the US. They were great for touring, easy to remove when training or race day came by, and were comfortable with any type shoe. Well done, Phil!
