Tried to get it reasonably close to the team bikes....

Happy with the hubs.. mavic was 550 great in its day and still very smooth

Top job, it looks really nice. I was never a fan of French components back then (I don't really know why) but those Mavic hubs were the exception. Absolutely brilliant design and build quality. I had a pair on some wheels I rode for years on my work bike in all weathers and the sealed bearings were still perfectly smooth when the rims eventually wore out. Like a fool I sold the hubs for peanuts instead of building them into new rims.

Sorry to wander OT - back to the bike. You can tell when a restoration is done well because nothing leaps out at you, it all just seems right and that's what this bike has. Very nice.

Out of interest which KMC chain is that? I will need a nice silver chain for my Daccordi soon and the KMC looks good.

I'm really enjoying this bike.

The spidel/mafac kit is well made easily on par with campag brakes ... really good stoppers
106 chainset was very similar to super record I guess.

I had a 107, my favourite chainset on another bike of mine.

The KMC chain is the X9L
