Re:

An another update... Brake blocks swapped for Koolstop, Weinmann yoke replaced with original Mafac. Hmmm... "those cables" have been shortened... ;) As a reference I took the length from the pictures from here: http://www.velo-pages.com/main.php?g2_itemId=24360 (Bernard Thevenet - two time winner of TdF, in 1972 ridding the same Peugeout as mine!) and I must admit that now it looks much better...
Last thing: I received the hubs, but still waiting for the rims...

Re:

An another small step forward. I have received the rims, hubs and tyres. I ordered Hutchinsons tubulars, I think that they will go well with the rest. Now just to measure everything, order spokes (probably ACI Alpina double butted stainless) and start lacing :)
I need to remove Cyclo frewheel from the old wheel as well.
Vive la France! :D

Thats really lovely :)
What a great job your doing. I thought it looked Ok at first but then as it went along the difference was amazing as it just kept getting better.
Keep it up and keep us updated

Thanks for all comments! We were on a trip today from London (Streatham) to Southend-on-Sea, 49 miles (or 79 km) and it was really nice experience.

Here on a ferry from Gravesend to Tilbury:

Beautiful bike

I hope you treated yourself to a nice large Rossi ice cream when you got to there :)

Re:

hi, I m very glad I found you, I just bought one px10 1972 frame exactly like your one but the frame size is 60cm and I m planing to build up the bike step by step, it is french treads but it doesn't have the bottom bracket and the headset so I m trying to buy the right size for it , can you tell me please what length the bb spidel is ( i m planning to put stronglight 93 crank) , and also the headset is strgonlight competition french thread ? looking forward to see your answer

Hi!

I can't tell you exactly the length of bottom bracket, but with 85% certainty, if I remember well, it is 118mm Stronglight Competition like this http://velobase.com/ViewComponent.aspx? ... p;AbsPos=8.

Headset is Competition V4 model: http://velobase.com/ViewComponent.aspx? ... ;AbsPos=14

Both bottom bracket and headset came with my bike and they were excellent condition, as per quality it is top notch. The best source for parts is french ebay, where you can buy them for half the price comparing to UK and there are tons of parts from that era to choose from.

You can't go wrong with Stronglight 93 crankset, just remember that it has a proprietary remover, 23.35mm that could be expensive for what it is. https://www.spacycles.co.uk/m2b0s72p268 ... -Extractor

Threading, of course, is French all the way :)

As per other parts, there should be: AVA stem, Simplex Criterium gearset (I have upgraded with later version Super LJ, so not so period correct..), Mafac Racer brakes and MAFAC Course 121 levers, Pelissier or Normandy hubs, Cyclo freewhell, Lyotard 45CA, Simplex seatpost (old chromed steel version), Selle Ideale 2001 or Brooks Pro saddle.

Since I went for full self employment I don't have so much time for fiddling with bikes any more (still, I ride them all the time) apart from that now I'm in the process of moving flats and I need to reduce my collection... so anyway, if anybody interested in any of my bikes, give me a shout... parts as well, have tons of them.
