What's the point of being on Retrobike if you can't pick peoples brains?

Can someone outline who actually made the frames over the years.

Are they French (Gitane), Swiss, (Cycleurope), or what?

I'm looking at getting one at some point, so just looking for manufacturing and source design information, and just as general interest.
