Period correct, DMR V12/V8 equivalent

On the '90 Cindercone, I currently run a very nice set of XT 735 pedals without clips and straps, from that lovely chap VideoJetMan, with that lovely Pace that I hope he gets to keep, as I know what it means to him... however I have come to conclude that for my big plates o' meat, and wide footwear of choice, they are too small for me really.

I want something akin to the flats I run on my BMX (V12's), but keeping period correct (ish)

What was there at the time, that is nice and wide, nice and flat, and nice and grippy?

I am a flat pedal user and have both Suntour XCII and Shimano Deore XT beartraps on my retrobikes. Alternatives would be the original shimano DX flats if you can get hold of a pair.

I would have said DX pedals also until I saw the price http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NOS-Shimano-D ... 4845e98fa4, there's quite a few vp beartraps on ebay for not a lot of money, or just get another pair of DMRs, once your foots on the pedal nobody sees what it is.

It IT my commuter/pub/ride with the Mrs on a Sunday afternoon bike, so doesnt need anything serious, so I guess I shouldnt be so precious about period correctness really.....

Aesthetically, I have never really been a fan.... and I think they would look odd on a skinny little steel SS with slicks

Going with my first instincts, and fitting DMRs. Cheers tho
