Tektro did the front & rear Pederson SE, they are physically & mechanically different to the Suntour version.

I've no doubt there are differences, but they all rely on the same principle: a sprung arm that's free to rotate on a splined helical boss attached to the frame. In every case, a rear brake can be mounted on the front if it's mounted behind the fork, or if the helical gears are swapped left-to-right.

Here's David Pedersen's patent: http://www.google.com/patents/US4974704

I didn't assume you were replying to me, but if you're responding to a specific point in a thread with multiple contributors, it's helpful if you quote a part of the message you're replying to.

At the time I started typing I was replying to the previous post, however due to a baby that wouldn't sleep it took 45 minutes to finish typing and post!

Picking up on ishaw's thread and calling all Pederson experts. Is there a way of telling front from rear on this model, because if there is I can't see it. I'm installing these on RC35s at the front so effectively need two rears, or is it just to do with the installation?

Or will I have to take them apart to look at the insides?

I believe you have to take them apart to see which way the 'thread' goes. If you take apart the spare set you have you'll see what I mean.

Not sure about the complete ones but one of the black ones pulls apart as it's not complete. Hopefully a simple task. You'd think it would say on the outside to make life easier
