PEARSON Road bike - Price dropped - again

thanks for your input dmrbikerboy, I assume you have an issue with the quality of Pearson bikes, and/or Campagnolo components? Please tell me and the others that may be interested in this bike what your issues are as I was under the impression that Pearson were a long established and respected English frame builder and that Campag were possibly the most highly respected manufacturer of road components!

I am happy to be corrected and will update my post accordingly

TBH, I think your Dad's pricing may be a bit off. Didn't like to say but asking £45 for the bars and stem alone was a bit steep.

NOS mint packaged Cinelli 1A stems are freely available at £25 (a secondhand one in excellent condition is around £7 to £15 on ebay).

Just found a stock of NOS clasic 80's Ambrosio 26.4 Campione del Monde Model S43 drops at £5 too!

Cinelli bars are a little more desirable.

Having said all that I would like the stem if you want to sell it seperately?

Well there you go, at the end of the day this stuff is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.

With the exception of the odd scratch, and one reynolds sticker being scraped, a clean up and new saddle, toe straps, tyres, cables, bar tape, lever hoods and anything else that is considered consumable this bike is in extremely good condition.

It is only the geometry that he can no longer get along with.

Regarding value, I only ever owned one road bike for commuting and muscle building when I used to race Mountain bikes, so I know very little about them. I got rid of my Daccordi when I decided that the best way to train for Mountain biking was by Mountain biking!

If there is no further interest in this bike then I will simply suggest he does the work and hangs it on the wall

If you strip it then you will do well - nobody will pay as much for the whole bike as they all will individually for separate parts and the frame/forks. There is currently a high demand for 531 steel frames with horizontal drop-outs (for conversion to fixed).

Strip it, bung it all on ebay and you will do ok.

Sell me the stem first though...

no no problems with any of the quality of the components or frame, just stating as others have you would achieve a faster and more productive sale as components. LOL i use campagnolo cranks and yes they are some of the best components in the world.

Hope you have a good sale!
