Paypal buyer protection

hello all,

can anyone tell me whether there is any protection offered by paypal? I want to buy a frame from a Taiwanese seller of exotic underwear  - was originally on ebay, I contacted them and they have sent a paypal invoice for the amount. Basically i think that they are sound but jsut want to be sure that should it not arrive I've got some cover.

thanks

I believe paypal only cover you for transactions completed through the complete ebay system, even then they have a lot of conditions that have to be met, eg the sellers paypal must be to a confirmed address etc.

In the past they have been criticised heavily for the so called protection they offer. It may have been improved by now.

I only spend through paypal when im very confident in the deal or its a relatively inexpensive item.

Sorry......I just cant help sniggering to myself!!

I would use a credit card through paypal and make sure your credit card company does not treat a paypal transaction as a cash advance.

You will then have protection under the consumer credit act, which makes the credit card company and the retailer jointly liable if anything goes wrong.

I think.

The only person who can 100% confirm if you're protected is Paypal. They've always replied to my emails in a day or so...
