Patria Falcon

There is a Patria Falcon for sale near here. I had never heard of the brand before. German apparently. What's the word on Patria. Is the Falcon a decent ride? Uses Deore LX throughout. It's way out of my price range, but I doubt she'll be able to sell it for that. The ad states it is a 60cm seat tube but it looks smaller than that.

Patria still only make hand built lugged steel frames of decent steel like Columbus. I ride a 60cm frame and this doesn't look far off to me. It has a longer seat tube so it could be more like a 58cm in reality, but no way to know for sure. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this if it were close to me, they are quality bicycles. Also it looks good as new.

Hi, it's listed at $2500 in Canadian Dollars. I can buy 20 steel framed mountain bikes for the same price. Sure, the Patria is a finely made bike, but I can't justify spending anywhere near that kind of dough on any bike. Riding around on an expensive bike is too much a liability. Bike theft is high here and the thieves are going unpunished. I'd offer WAY less. I know they'll never get the money that they want here. The price I'd pay for it would be difficult to recoup if I ever had to sell it again.

Hi, that is about ten times the real value i guess. I'd say rather 200 Cad, not more. It's really nice, but nothing special. I'm on a different market though. Here i saw a female one sold recently under a hundred euros, and it had a hub dynamo.
the gear is good too, but nothing really special as well.

Bike thieves should be punished as horse thieves were in the wild west

cheers

2500 is a ridiculous price, it is almost like what it would have cost new at 1650 euros. One could always appeal to their common sense and offer what you think it is worth.

if you compare it to the titanium framed Torus with the ugli fork for sale on here for 300 £, with full stx se, in good condition, and it did not sell for months now...

The owner states the top tube measures 23". I guess these Patria bikes have not much resale value. If it fits, I'd buy it for the right price.
I certainly don't need to have it. I was in the market for a steel framed hybrid on which I could fit fat tires. This lead me to try and find either a Jamis Coda or a KHS urban xpress, both of which use Reynolds 520. However, none exist in stock anywhere. I'd prefer to buy used anyways, but none exists in the used market, anywhere near here and especially in an XL or XXl. Those bikes used, in a rim brake variety, don't command much money at all and are a good value. The owner of the Patria says he doesn't know how large a tire would fit that Falcon.

In other words, if I paid him $400 CAD for it that would be fair? He could keep the saddle and pedals if he wants. Bars and stem too as I need a more upright riding position.
