Part Identification

Is a steel Campagnolo headset from the 70's. I'm not sure of the group - it has the Record style 2 square flats on it but its steel so I'm a bit perplexed.
I reckon I had one on an old Falcon - its maybe a cheapo 'Sport' version which didn't last long.

Keep it greasy.

I'm almost convinced it is a 'Sport' steel headset. 2 Flats, no holes.

When I said it didn't last long, I mean they weren't about for a while.

Should 'last' very well on your bike. Try it for size.

I don't remember that design of Campag headset in the 70's, weren't they all 'rounded' shape to the races? I would have thought more 80's - but I couid be wrong :?

Come now chaps. Had I posted some obscure piece on the MTB forum, those lads would have told me "it is Ringle... actually, pre-Ringle, produced in their second workshop up 5th Ave, before the fire, by Clyde, who was hung-over that week and working the lathe with a broken left index finger... which can clearly be seen by the 2 nicks near the starter threads..."

No actually - it is a tricky one.

There's a few things it could be.

I'd guess at it being a bottom of the range thing from early-mid 90s.

But can't be sure.

I think Ned's right I have a Record headset in steel on my '76 Roberts that is rounded as described.
