Paris Olympics

Watched Murray and Evans. I think if the match had been a regular length then the result could've been different.

Anyhow....another day of medals here and there :)

Those crazy kids and their bmx bikes. So impressed. If JeanJean had properly nailed that landing from the 720 transition i think that may have got him a different medal.

What did you think Vince? Pretty cool huh!

It was electric. What a show. My god how it's all progressed to nuts stuff. He was still happy with the Bronze and had to explain to the TV / Press that a minute technical detail makes the difference at this level of competition - even if most people don't notice. Interestingly he said that the judges tend to see all athletes in training prior so they know what to look for and expect in their run.

Olympics, dates back to Roman times, where gay sex, wearing dresses (ok togas and battle dress) and general debauchery was considered the norm. what a "woke" society.

anyways, back to the games, I'm already playing catch up and I've only just seen the male MTB. that boy is quick as a quick thing.

Colleague asked why they didn't run puncture resistant innertubes, I asked why they were running innertubes at all, I thought they were so last century. :)
Greek times you mean
All contestants were naked.
Otherwise correct🙂
Oh and btw no females were allowed, bloody wokish

Apologies, you are correct and my brain had a moment. Thanks for the correction.

We use dto have a few like him at the club. Just naturally good at it. While the rest of us had to practice, they'd rock up shoot a 100 round, finish on +600 then go the pub for a few. Meanwhile us mear mortals would make a 550 on a good day. Some of the other norms would spend a fortune on gear, including some of the fancy headgear we saw at the Olympics to try and eek put a few more points.

I stopped when half the club were shoiting fienwiechbau (think it was a p8x) or rohm twinmasters, it Lost its edge when the pistol shot itself for me.

Still have a weinrack hw40 and a few pcp rifles but they don't get used anymore.

Not seen so much, but a lot of the highlites and round ups.

I've been rather interested in some of the background stuff consequences, social impacts, environment impacts, City preparations, ethics, individual battles and collective battles and not to forget some of the political concerns like security etc. - not necessarily the actual competitions themselves.

There was a great documentary following one of the French female rowers and the link to nutrition. Her power output in the test lab beat some daft records - her proven track record and her head was well capable of driving herself to complete destruction digging deep, but her body couldn't follow - so a team of nutrition researches studied her and followed her evolution. She went from 3 wholesome meals a day to 5 wholesome meals a day. I was just twitching looking at what she was putting her body through in a test lab with such a serene level of focus and drive.

Another documentary was related to swimming, and the lengths gone to in underwater photography, a specific R&D swimming pool, analysis and research. It almost gave a flashback at what the Soviets were doing to stomp and mop up. Some of these athletes trained in milli-meter precision for years and they have to have it always in the their head even when emptying the tank.

Another documentary which was surprising, mentioned that the Paris region hotel occupancy is actually 30 - 40% down compared to last year. Parisiennes seem very split on the whole thing - about a 30% exodus of native residents and many saying stuff like I'm not going out and locking myself indoors. They also followed a bit on the impact in the overseas territories, and the surfing was considered a massive boost.

For the moment, I'm kind of pleased there is not so much politics in the picture and media, and it's all left to the athletes to shine.

The BMX in Place de la Concorde an utter sensation and some great planning and decision making prior. An infrastructure right in the heart of urbanisation in the Paris mega pole that was a worthy nod to it's roots but with that French exuberant charm in part due to the love of velo. How these people do the stuff they do and make it flow and seamless is incredible -if I did that they would still be mopping up blood and waiting for fresh paint to dry, carpenters repairing where bits of handlebars, pedals and cranks have got stuck in the veneer. I would land like a sack of lead shit. I still can't get over the pace and how they can put a bike exactly where they want.

Go watch some Scotty Cranmar from before his accident. There was nobody better at it at the time.
