The 'problem' is this,
I've 'agreed' a price with the seller - at three different values . . . . . . .
we've even arranged a time when the bike could be collected.

at least three others on this forum 'agreed' to buy the bike; very kindly & honourably, they decided to 'stand aside', so that I could buy the bike - I'd like to thank neuroportal, Robbied196, and danson67 for very decently, leaving the way clear for me to make the purchase . . . . . . . I wish that the seller could show such integrity.
I think that it is more than likely, that there are quite a few others involved in this auction. At least three of us, have received
exactly the same emails - how can that be right ?
I don't dispute that the bike was (is ?) 'good value; but it is up to the seller to name a price - and having done so, he should stick to it (IMO). He told me that 'he didn't realise the value' . . . but having made agreements at different prices, he has then gone on to say, that 'someone else is very interested' and they are willing to pay (whatever) - ie, more than what I will pay.
I've recently been informed, that the price is now above £400 - there is now someone who is 'very' interested in the bike and willing to pay 'a lot more' for it. Well, I'm not getting involved in an auction, he has had offers from me,
which he has accepted. Obviously, an agreement on the Internet, ain't binding - it's not worth the paper it's written on.
This would never have happened with Ebay.
It'll be interesting to see what happens to the bike; I predict, that the frame will end up on Ebay . . . . . . or just as likely, it will end up on a very familiar website - which specialises in frames and bike components.
Perhaps it is an odd concept to some, but I believe in making a straight-forward transaction; I'd have simply purchased the bike with cash and then
used it as it is - ie, not stripped it down and sold it on, as is done by so many 'enthusiasts'.
