Pace Suspension forks - Which ones?

Looking at all of the Pace suspension fork models, what are the models to avoid, which are considered good and given the choice...which are considered the ones to go for?

Thanks for any info!

Depends on the bike.

The earlier models have a shorter axle to crown length, so suit frames of the same era. Once you get past the RC36 range things get a little long for the older retros.

'94 Orange Prestige,

so would RC36's work with this? Also i need a 1" crown as I have a Titanium 1" steerer....

Others will likely shoot me down, but I think you could just about get away with RC36's. Don't get EVO's, as the stems cannot be changed on the later models.

If you can find some late RC35's, then they would probably suit best and 1 inch stems etc are pretty common.

so is that true - RC36 Evo's can't have the steerer tube changed...?

Over to Tim.....Come in ForkEnglish

See here for the differences: http://www.goatsurfer.com/pace_forks.html

I would say personally on a 94 bike that Evo's would be too long and make the front end squirrelly (twitchy/lively...wheelie loving).

Despite the fact that the 97 F6 was designed with RC36 Pro Class in mind the bike rode like crap with them on and a shorter axle to crown length made the handling much better (IMHO) ;)

Yeah - I have taken a look at the goatsurfer page and its a good source of info.

I have some NOS RC30's but i'm not 100% sure if they are 390mm or 420mm. I suspect 420mm might not suit the Orange Prestige.

What is the axle to crown length of RC35' & RC36's....?

From memory RC30 are 400mm. RC36 Pro Class were 450mm

I went back to RC30 on my F6 and it rides sweet as :D

Disagree. Mine handles loads better with a Pro Class Evo than it did with a shorter Air Force.
